The artist
We’ve partnered with celebrated local artist Greg Straight to produce a beautiful work of art for our second limited edition Golden Syrup collectors’ tin. Greg grew up a scones throw from Chelsea Sugar and was thrilled to put his own unique spin on a brand with such rich history in New Zealand.
“Chelsea was completely happy for me to work from an open brief. They wanted a genuine piece of art. I have included recurring themes in my artwork so that it truly is my creation” says Greg Straight.
The artwork
Greg took inspiration from the natural beauty of the ocean and native bush that surrounds our factory. His design evokes memories of long summers, our favourite kiwi pastimes and of course, the warm, rich colour of our Golden Syrup. Greg has produced a series of art prints inspired by Chelsea Golden Syrup, which will be displayed in a selection of prestigious galleries throughout the country.
The tin
Our tinned Golden Syrup has always been the best for baking, being thicker and richer than bottled versions. It’s the baker’s essential ingredient for caramel flavours to fudges, puddings and biscuits and a staple in every bakers pantry. We’ve been making it the same way since 1884 so it really is a golden oldie! Watch our artist inspired tin being produced or find our more about our Golden Syrup here.
Available from 14th October 2013 for a limited time, at supermarkets nationwide.
