I made some substitutions (fresh apples instead of stewed, self raising gluten free flour instead of flour and baking powder), and it still worked great! Will definitely save this recipe!

This is an awesome cake an is very popular with friends an family. I never do exact measurements an when it is a bit crumbly sometimes I just add a bit of vegetable oil, perfect an works every time

I first made this when our daughter was a newborn. So easy being one pot and no icing. It is delicious and has become a go to recipe in our house. Have been asked for the recipe. Would also be a good dessert.

Reliably wonderful. I've made this so many times, often with substitutions and it always comes out perfect. It doesn't sound interesting, might seem old fashioned, but trust me, it's so delicious and more-ish. It's a recipe you want to make again and again

So long as you drain the apples well, this turns out so well every time! Very delish and lasts for days. Even nicer day after its made. Added walnuts are a must for us. I usually use a turban/bundt cake tin. Thanks.

This is a very easy to follow recipe which never fails. The cake is delicious, healthy and loved by everyone in my house. The only part I changed is to use 4 to 5 fresh apples instead of stewed apples.

Superb cake every time - much appreciated by all.

I don’t know why people are saying it’s dry. This cake is delicious and moist has to be my new favourite cake.

It was perfect! I was concerned that the mix was dry but made it as directed anyway and it was lovely. Will make it again.

Such a wonderful cake! I have found the trick is draining my stewed apples really well which ensures a moist but not too wet cake. Divine flavour and delicate texture.

Pretty ordinary recipe, as it needed half a cup of milk, and for half the apple to be blended into the actual mix to give it near enough moisture to carry the dry ingredients.
I had to leave out the nuts and sultanas as the mixture wouldn't have had enough lift for that.
I used an extra tsp of baking powder as it was, and gave it a little extra lift separating the eggs, beating the whites and folding in last also.

Too dry and crumby

divine

Was dry like breadcrumbs. Why doesnt the recipe have milk? Are the comments below fake because i just couldnt get a cake batter consistency without adding milk.

Easy to make and was delicious. Would make again. Could be used as a dessert as well.

Easy recipe with results that look and taste amazing. Baked this for work colleagues and it was a total hit. Was asked by a number of people for recipe and had to confess how simple it was.

Love

Very nice cake. I used raisins and caster sugar. Still turned out great! Not sure why but mine took 15 minutes more to cook than the recipe said.

Really fast an easy to make. Has turned out perfect every time. Husband cant get enough of it

Delicious! I've made this 3 times in the last week!

Alright, mmmkaaaayy

This was delicious. Best apple cake ever. I used the good-quality golden sultanas and soaked them in orange juice and cinnamon overnight. Made the cake moist and with a good depth of flavour. This one's definitely on my 'keeper' list.
