Great cake! The batter is quite runny after you add the water, but it thickens out once you cook it! Overall it's our favorite cake!

My go-to recipe for chocolate cake. I have been using this recipe for years. Simple and foolproof. And it's just divine!

Such a beautiful moist cake have become a family favourite for birthdays

I love this cake, it is moist and rich. I top it off with a chocolate ganache icing. It is a really large cake so great for feeding a good sized group of people. The batter can seem runny once the cup of water is added but just go with it.

Excellent recipe ! Stays moist and delicious, and like a few other reviewers, I baked it for 1.25 hrs. Will be definitely making this cake again. An impressive looking birthday cake.

Was super runny after adding 2 cups of boiling water took about 1 hour and a half to bake.

I have made this cake a few times now my family absolutely love it and I have made birthday cake for my kids and always been a success and get compliments on how moist the cake is. Its my go to chocolate cake recipe love love it...

Beautiful, moist cake that never fails. Makes a huge cake and 2 dozen cupcakes. Best chocolate cake recipe I've ever tried!

Yummy big moist cake. Mixture was very runny and needed 1 1/2 hours cooking though. Easy for my daughter and I to make together.

Great cake mix! Can make two cakes with one batter but cooking time is a lot longer than 1 hour more like 1hour 25mins.

This is my go to birthday cake recipe .i use it every year and make it gluten free using gluten free flour and it turns out great every time and doesent dry out ,makes a good sized cake .Ive also made it dairy free before by using coconut milk instead abd it was great .Its super easy just throw everything in the bowl .

Love it. Simple to make and enough mixture to separate and male a few cakes or a layered cake. The cake itself was rich and full of flavour, this is my favourite recipe to date!

I have made this cake several times it is a massive hit at work especially with a ganache icing and because it makes such a large cake it is great for big groups. I was a bit dubious at first about the cup of water but it works.

Another Great Receipe!!

What kind of flour did u use ??
CHELSEA: Hi there, this recipe uses plain flour.

This chocolate cake has never failed me and it's just so yummy! I adjust the sugar content depending on who I am baking it for and its still awesome.

Best chocolate cake ever! So easy to make and you can get more than one decent cake out of the mix. You can't go wrong with the instructions. Moist and chocolatey. It's a favourite in my family.

absolute best chocolate cake ever, love love love it

I found this cake very heavy and was disappointed. With all the baking powder I was surprised how little it rose and with the oil it's a very moist cake but I felt it wasn't 'chocolatey' enough for its consistency i.e. needs to have actual chocolate in it. I made a ganache to ice it with which matched though. Probably not the cake for me cause I like mine fluffier.

This is a very yummy chocolate cake. Very easy to make. I used two 23cm tins and got two cakes that were easy to cut in half and fill with your desired filling, or one very high large cake. :)

Easy to make, makes a huge mix! Moist and delicious!

It is a great recipe and makes a beautiful cake but DO NOT try put this one in a shaped silicone mould. Some molds are ok, they have the support for such a heavy mix but a rose one definitely don't.

I 3/4 this recipe for a deep 20 cm pan. It is even better the next day.

I have to say this is the best chocolate cake I have baked in awhile. I was a bit worry about the texture being too runny but it was fine. Lovely, moist cake and a great recipe.
