Ingredients

    125g butter
    3/4 cup Chelsea Caster Sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp vanilla essence
    2 cups plain flour
    2 Tbsp cocoa
    1/2 tsp baking powder

    For Decoration:
    90g white baking chocolate
    Silver sugar pearls
    Coloured sugar pearls

Method

Place butter and caster sugar in a bowl and beat until creamy. Add egg and vanilla essence and beat well. Stir in sifted flour, cocoa and baking powder and knead to form a firm dough.

Roll dough out to a thickness of 0.5cm between two sheets of plastic freezer wrap. Cut out with star-shaped cutters, varying in size from large to small. Place on greased baking tray and bake at 190°C for 15 mins. Allow to stand on trays for 3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

Place white baking chocolate in the top section of a double saucepan and stir over simmering water until melted. Pour into a small piping bag and use blobs of white chocolate to stick the stars together, starting with the largest and finishing with the smallest. Drizzle white chocolate over the top of the 'tree' and use any remaining chocolate to stick the pearls on.
