Serves
12
¾ cup soy sauce
½ cup (125ml) Chelsea Treacle
2 teaspoons sesame oil
½ teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 kg chicken wings (tips removed)
6 baby carrots, peeled and cut in half lengthwise
12 whole cloves
Preheat oven to 180°C conventional (160°C fan forced). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Combine soy sauce, treacle, sesame oil, ginger and sesame seeds in a large bowl. Add chicken wings and toss to coat. Allow to marinade for at least 1 hour.
Drain chicken wings from the marinade and reserve. Place in a single layer on prepared tray and bake for 30 – 40 minutes or until dark brown and cooked. Baste chicken wings half way through with marinade.
To create “Bat Bodies”, push 2 clove stems into carrots at the widest end to make bats eyes. Repeat with remaining carrots and cloves. Place a bat body between two wings to make tasty bat wing treats.
