Ingredients

    Dough
2 cups Edmonds Self Raising Flour (300g)
    1/8 tsp salt
    90g Tararua Butter, cubed
2/3 cup Meadow Fresh Original Milk (160ml)

    Filling
    120g Tararua Butter, softened
1/4 cup Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar (50g)
    2 tsp Chelsea White Sugar
    1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

    Icing
1 cup Chelsea Icing Sugar (150g)
    1 1/2 - 2 Tbsp boiling water

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C bake / 160°C fan bake. Take 2 x 6-hole Texas muffin tins and grease 8 holes (the mixture should make 8 scrolls).

    Dough
Sift flour and salt into a medium-large bowl. Add the butter and rub in using your fingertips.

Make a well in the centre and add most of the milk. Mix gently to form a soft dough, adding the rest of the milk if necessary.

Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Roll dough out to a 25cm x 40cm rectangle, approximately 0.5cm thick.

    Filling
Using an electric mixer, beat butter, Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar, Chelsea White Sugar and ground cinnamon until light and fluffy. Spread evenly over the rolled out dough.

Roll dough up tightly from the long side. Use your hands to gently elongate the roll a little, if it needs evening out. Using a sharp knife, slice dough into 3cm rounds.

Place rounds in prepared tins. Cook for 25 minutes, until well risen and golden brown.

    Icing
Place Chelsea Icing Sugar and 1 1/2 tablespoons boiling water in a small bowl. Mix until smooth, adding extra water if needed to form a drizzling consistency. Drizzle icing over hot scrolls.

Best served warm! Scrolls keep well for 2-3 days and can be reheated in the oven or microwave.

Hi! From the comments there’s some controversy on whether these cinnamon rolls are good or bad. I’m going with the good, because I’ve only made cinnamon rolls twice, and this was the recipe :D although I like to bake for a little less time, and add a little more cinnamon in the filling, I liked it

ITS SO SWEET AND YUM THX CHELSEA SUGER COMPANEY

was delicious, so warm and sweet

They were AMAZING!!! I will definitely make them again

It's-a perfect, wa-hoo!

its the best recipe I use it all the time

It was really good, it was crunchy but soft in the inside. It had a lot of cinnamon flavour in the scrolls. But the icing didn't have much flavour.

Hi, these cinnamon scrolls were easy and delicious before my final death.

Didn’t enjoy if I could give this minus stars I would

they tasted delicious and i made the rest of the dough into cake pops follow my instagram account to see how that went! they tasted great and they rise to about 15 cm and they are about 10 cms wide!

Very easy turn out great every time. And there so tasty a favorite at work

Amazing

This is so Yummy

Turned out really well and were the perfect round roll shape! Made 12 good sized ones with some dough left over. Would make again :)

Thank you for this ever time my parents beg me to make me and ask me for the recipe but I say it's a secret

Made this before and it was delicious, this is a great recipe! I was wondering, could I freeze uncooked cinnamon rolls and then bake them from frozen a few days later? Or should i let them thaw and rise?

Yum, just what I was craving, soft and crunchy sweet and yummy, put in metal muffin pan, so had soft fluffy inner and yummy slightly crunchy outside.

Doesn’t make enough, out of the oven they come out hard and the filling spilled all over the paper

Very yummy and easy to make. I am 9 and can make them by myself.
I have followed this recipe lots of times and the scrolls are delicious.

Delicious and very easy to make!
If you put the cinnamon buns on
the tray after cooking all the
cinnamon will pour out on the tray.

Delicious and very easy to make!

This is a terrible recipe. Takes so much butter and even though I've made several other cin bun recipes, these were the worst. All the butter melted out on the bottom of the tray. They dough didn't expand or rise out and they still tasted like dough even after i cooked them another 5 minutes. Such a waste of time and ingredients when this are so expensive. I wish I had have used my normal recipe...

I love, love, love these. the taste is so good. i am 8 and i made these! my mummy said i am a great baker! so yummy i am 8. this was gone in under a day. HOLY MOLY!!!!

WOW! First attempt and the cinnamon rolls are perfect, fluffy and easy to whip up for your family or to take a plate for any event. I made 8 very decent portions. Thank you so much!

I was a bit dubious to begin with but I will never go back to using a cinnamon scroll recipe with yeast ever again. This recipe is by far the best I’ve ever used, so simple and easy to make. I most certainly recommend trying before attempting any other recipe. ❤️❤️❤️

Yummy cinnomen scrolls turned out so great

I highly don’t recommend this recipe because I made it I don’t know if it was just how I made them but they didn’t taste good what so ever. I will never recommend this it was flat I thought piklets were meant too be after I DONT RECOMMEND THIS WHAT SO EVER.

Absolutely delicious, if you cut the dough thinner, you can get about 12 scrolls

Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

absolutely amazing these are delicious and quick and easy to make. I am 11 and I will definitely make these again. great to share with the family but dont last more than half an hour lol

When I put it in the oven, the insides started leaking out all over the baking paper. I used a baking tray and paper because I don't have any muffin pans. Other than that, it's a pretty good recipe.

It’s yummy but doesn’t make 12

They were delicious! Thank you so much for the recipe, I will use it often! The taste was beautiful and rolling the dough up was very satisfying!

Amazing

amazing

amazing

Yum

I love this reecipe!I would totally make this again.But the reason im giving it 4 stars is because its not really sweet{in my opinion}

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

loveeeeee

really good make sure you dont put all the milk and roll out the pastery quite thin

really good make sure you dont put all the milk and roll out the pastery quite thin

A delicious, yet straightforward recipe!

Yum

Amazing cinnamon scrolls! so delicious and far easier than yeast recipes. Mine did not rise (probably because my dough was not smooth) but spread to a good size. I would definitely recommend putting them in a dish not a muffin tray , makes them so much bigger and filling only spreads a little, making a lovely sticky syrup. I am 11 and did not need any help from my parents. It was also my first time making cinnamon scrolls.
over all so easy and yummy, would definitely make again!

I loved this recipe very tasty used it for years however does not make 12

I loved this recipe very tasty used it for years however does not make 12

ITS DELICIOUS

Yum!

Tasted good but I accidentally put the icing on before I cooked it! :)
It turned out okay

So easy and tasty.

I added cream cheese to the icing

they dont taste like cinnamon rolls, more like biscuits

I'm not sure what happened, but for some reason, the scrolls ended up sizzling in the butter instead of baking. I have made better cinnamon scrolls before, and I am 11.

Great Recipe

yum yum yum

didnt rise and were very dry

Really easy, and super versatile.

This recipe was good! I can't believe ANYONE would say that bad!

These are really good, the icing tastes even better if you add a little bit of vanilla essence!

Love this recipe, it's simple, easy and most of all delicious. Best homemade cinnamon rolls I've ever had.

good

Easy to make, tastes delish. I baked at lower temperature though and increased it near the end

These cinnamon scrolls are so easy to make an they are so delicious! All of my family loves them when I make them and because I am a young baker these sort of delicious and fun recipes are definitely what I like! Such an awesome recipe!

Loveee this recipe! I know I'm not chelsea sugar but I certify this recipe as a winner every time. Please make this for your friends and family. Good food deserves to be shared

great recipe ! and very delicous but one tip is to double the amount to make more but apart from that awasome !

Delicious!

These are delicious! I’ve made them four times now!

I don’t usually leave reviews on things but these cinnamon scrolls are next level! Lovely light crunch on the outer scroll and soft in the middle. The icing complements it really well. Really delicious, easy recipe!

these were really good but i doubled the cinomin the 2nd time i made them and it was much better :)

Easy and delicious!!

I added some golden syurp to give it some richness to it

i am 11 and they are soooo goooddd

So yum just made it! The dough was super nice and the entire batch went down well

These are so yum, my family love them they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside they are so perfect and I will definitely make them again! I actually did it without the icing and it made them so much better and really brought out the cinnamon. The sweetness is perfect and I have never made cinnamon scrolls before and this was a GREAT first timer. So easy and yet so good this is a dream recipe!

More like a biscuit than a bread but definitely delicious and easy to make. Usually do them on 160 for around 20ish minutes.

Nice but nothing close to a yeast based cinnamon scroll

Just made these for the family and they were DELISH!
Amazing filling, icing and dough and will 110% make again! If I had to say one bad thing, it would be that they were a tiny bit scone like on the outside ( Perfect on the inside ) but that is because I over kneaded it.
Love it! Thanks!

Great recipe. Very popular in our household.

My 8yr old did this - so easy and so delicious!

When you get used to the recipe it's astonishing!!!! :)

I wouldnt say the best. i didnt end up cooking them, as the dough wasnt working so tried another recipie, but the chooks had a good feed!

They're ok, the kids enjoyed them. I cooked them at lower temperature ~160 fan bake for 20mins and they were fine (not too dry as in some comments). Would probably make again.

This was a great and easy recipe to make. The scrolls are amazing and I now don’t care about the extra 20 kg I’ve gained over this lockdown.

so yummy and easy to make. Love how there is no yeast required

easy yummy cool

I’m 83 years old and these were a blast to cook. Had fun getting a little messy with my granddaughter. Will definitely do again,

Thanks Sharon

its yum

very yummy and easy and quick for cinnamon scrolls we really love this recipe

Yum!

.

Worked really well, only had to cook them for 20 minutes

I'm a pretty inexperienced baker, but decided to give these a shot to soothe some cravings. More biscuit-y than bread-y, but tasted quite good. I used a normal tray and baking paper and it wasn't too messy.

really easy and taste delightful the whole family ate them in 1 hour!

Super easy to make, though they do just taste like scones with a bit of sugar. No the best in the world, but also not terrible :)

These turn out perfect every time! Great easy recipe that children can make on their own or with minimal help from a parent.

These are so easy to make and are so yum!!!

I think that this recipe should have been tested by Chelsea sugar because it need more boiling water in the icing and since they have not tested it I could have got food poisoning .I still think it tastes good but you need to try every recipe you put on this site!

I'm 8 and made them all by my self so good so easy

yum so good

these are so good they were all gone in like 10 mins, the best cinnamon scrolls ever!!!

These are amazing! They have a pastry like texture (I grease the muffin tins with butter - don't know if this helps with crispness?). I make these nearly every week as when I ask my husband what I should make it's always the same...cinnamon scrolls.

the best cinnamon scroll I've ever had the whole family love it

They didn't taste terrible, but they definitely don't taste like cinnamon scrolls

Delicious and easy to make!

These were great!

Good recipe. I added baking soda and baking powder to the mixture. Made them a lot better!

They were easy to make and super fun.

Amazing!!

I am 9 years old. These are pretty easy to make love them so much.

I'm 11 and I found this really easy to make but I did need a little help. Really good :)

These are very good I will keep making these, they taste so good.

Don’t bake at 180C they get so dry, I tried 160C for 30-40 mins the second time I made these and it worked way better.

Best cinnamon scrolls I have ever had!!! Will be making over and over again! Thank you! Delicious without the icing if you’re concerned about too much sugar :)

I'm 13 and tried baking these. They were so delicious and my family loved them. Definitely recommended :)

I'm 12 yrs old and found these so fun and easy to make they were delicious as well
#yum #easy #fun #love it
everyone must try them. :)

Found they were more like a biscuit texture. Still nice but didn't quite give the dough effect I was after!

Great easy recipe for the kids. We found by using a cupcake case to put them in meant that the cinnamon and butter filling spread through the scroll more and they weren’t dry at all.

These were average at best.

So yummy and were easy to make and everyone enjoyed them. A yummy Easter treat. Definitely making them again.

They taste amazing! It was my first time making them and my family and I love them! I didn't use a muffin tray, I just used a normal tray and it worked fine.

I'm 17 years old and I found these very difficult to make. They are not cooked all the way through.

Yummy

Great recipe. I make these in a ring tin - just arrange around the tin leaving a gap in between. They rise and expand and end up like a pull-apart. Drizzle icing before taking out of tin.

Swapped regular flour for GF Flour, obviously not as puffy, but more pastry like texture which was amaze

I substituted gluten free self-raising flour and baked the scrolls in a small dish lined with baking paper. The filling did ooze out a little but still plenty inside. Popped them onto a cooling rack and drizzled with the icing - delicious. Next time will roll dough slightly thinner as were a wee bit underdone in some of the centres.

The filling is nice and they are overall easy to make, but a little on the dry and stodgy side. Wish I had read the other reviews on here before baking these.

I came home from work today and my daughter whom usually doesn’t bake had made these scrolls had them warm with ice cream and oh my they’re delicious

a little dry but still very tasty

Going to have to disagree with everyone here, I found this to be a very dry recipe with not much going for it, just a hard scone texture. Maybe better not done in the muffin tin as that just increased the dryness. Not a fan of this one.

the filling is very nice however be warned: these are not the same as actual cinnamon rolls and taste more like a shortbread so if you like biscuits this is the recipe for you

What a perfect way to start our Good Friday morning....delicious morning tea..I made this with a little more cinnamon sugar in the filling..came out great..family loved it...now I don’t have to buy this for morning tea at work because I found the perfect recipe :)

These were super yummy and easy to make, but I found mine turned out a little on the dry side. How could I make them so that they turn out less dry??
Chelsea Sugar:
Hi Alice, it could be that your oven runs hot or the dough is over worked.

These are my go to delicious treat. So easy to make and yummy!

This is a really awesome recipe! I make it all the time and all my family loves it!

image description

They were so easy to make and taste great. I add some sultanas to mine and other things and still tasted amazing

Turned out really well and were the perfect round roll shape! Made 12 good sized ones with some dough left over. Would make again :)

Easy and tasty. Will do it again

Easy and crummy!

1 word. amazing

5 stars with minor improvements, such as more filling and more icing; otherwise, these are a tad on the dry side. Fantastic recipe, very easy to make. Everyone loves them. Perfect with a nice cuppa.

They were soooooo good. I'm 11, and I found them really easy to make!

This recipe I’ve needed to make 2 days in a row. My family absolutely love these. Definitely one of the best recipes I’ve used.

I made these scrolls, but I added currants pre-soaked in orange juice as well as chopped walnuts to the butter/sugar/cinnamon mixture. They were pretty fantastic. I'm going to print out the recipe so I remember to make them again.

image description

These Scrolls were nice, they went down well with my son, he enjoyed them, they do make a great treat and are easy to make.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. These scolls look so yummy. Not complicated to make and the ingredients are easy to find. A treat that can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

Great scrolls yum

Scrumptious easy to make cinnamon rolls. Added some roasted walnuts to the filling.

I have made these scrolls twice, once using the original recipe and the muffin tray, and once with some variations to the filling and using a pan with the scrolls in it side by side. For the variation in filling ones I added desiccated coconut to the butter filling before rolling it up, and for a second variation I added chocolate chips to the butter filling before rolling and cutting, (for this I doubled the mixture so I could have different fillings).
Both recipes turned out well.

I made these with my 8 year old grandson for Fathers day. He loved mixing the dough with his hands and kneading and cutting the roll to fit the muffin tin. Wow they were awesome he said. We wrapped them nicely on a decorated tray. I have a photo of him if you wish making them. Good on you Chelsea

image description

I love them - I'm an 11-yr-old and found them so easy to make!

Amazing

So good!! Kids asked me to make them again! Two days in a row... must be yummy!!

I'm a 13 year old and i found this super easy to bake and it tastes AMAZING!!

nice recipe, im a 13 yr old with zero cooking experience and this was good. ty

We make them for Saturday sports in our house and add chocolate chips to the filling. Gone every time. All the kiddos love eating them and my kiddos love helping make them. YUM

Love these! Would def recommend. I made some with cocoa instead of cinnamon & worked well too :)

Awesome straight forward recipe. The family loved them :)

So tasty! I changed the butter to margarine. Mixed & kneaded the dough in the food processor, didn't need all the milk. I also added an extra tspn of cinnamon to the filling. 3 Tblspns water to the icing sugar. Baking in the muffin tray is a brilliant idea also! Definately saving this recipe!

image description

I loved this recipe - easy and yummy!

perfect scrolls, nice and moist with lots of flavour. will be using this recipe again :)

Awesome if people know how to bake and follow the recipe these are easy I also added some just softened apple so easy love that they go in the muffin tin to stop them spreading look great to take to shared food venues taste good look good thank you.

really easy and fun to make!!!! 10/10

image description

So easy to make and so yummy!! Everyone was raving about these, they definitely didn't last long!

These are just amazing from the oven, didn't last long with my family. The recipe was easy and quantities perfect, a good moist scroll with lots of flavour. Will be saving to my favourites bookmark!!

They were amazing! they looked amazing, they tasted amazing!!
Also very very easy to make and they were gone really fast!

10/10 would make these cinnamon scrolls again.

Gone in a flash....delish!!!( cinnamon added to icing too)

Quite heavy, more cinnamon definitely needed asked it taste like a scone.

it sounds good, i would of givin this a 5 star but its the fact that it says at the end "this recipe has not been tested by chelsea sugar" but yea nice clear instructions, just think u should test the recipes :)

image description

Love these cinnamon scrolls, needed to add more milk though

Did not rise, were dry

I followed the recipe exactly (I even double checked after) and I found that the amount of milk was not nearly enough and I had to add more than what was indicated and my dough still turned out lumpy even after relentless kneading. Used cream cheese icing instead of the one in the recipe. Not sure what I did wrong, but still tasted alright, just a bit heavy.

I love the roll

image description

Yum yum, didn't last long. The whole family loved them. Muffin tray was a great idea.

delicious and super yummy!! Loved eating them

Absolutely delicious.....great for the kids to make as well

The butter and sugar mix will run, and on a flat try there's no stopping it. Add the scones to a muffin tray not a flat tray and it's much cleaner. The excess will form around the scone's bottom making a delicious toffee at the base when cool.

fantastic, fluffy and yum

Wow this was absolutely delicious I added walnuts to the filling and that made it even better thank you I love your recipes

Really nice! Everybody loved them!
The second time I made them I rolled out the dough evn thinner / bigger and doubled the cinnamon for the filling because I love cinnamon so much --- YUMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
I also love that you dont need any yeast!

Awesome made me get creative!!!!!!

image description

This was delicious
The dough was nice and fluffy and I added a hint of cocoa to the cinnamon mix, with and without the cocoa was scrumptious and there was no mess after I was done!
Quick ,easy and simple
Would make this again

image description

Very Easy to Make!
Delicious!!
Note: I added alittle Lemon Juice to my Icing for a bit of Tangyness.

image description

easy to make...lovely to eat. Mine were a tad salty so will not put salt in next time.

image description

We're messy to cook and not as fluffy and big as bought ones, but they tasted real good!!!! Like a donut :-)
