Ingredients

500g fresh or frozen mixed berries
500g granny smith apples, (about 4 medium), peeled, cored and finely chopped
    1/4 cup water
    1kg Chelsea Jam Setting Sugar

Method

In a large saucepan combine berries, apples, water and Chelsea Jam Setting Sugar. Cook over a low heat stirring until sugar has dissolved. Increase heat and boil rapidly for 4 minutes. Remove from heat, then test a small amount on a cold plate, (the surface of the jam should wrinkle when a spoon is pushed through it). Spoon into hot, sterilised glass jars and seal.

Makes 2 litres or about 4 medium jars.

I used the recipe with frozen apples from last year’s pick, and supermarket own brand basic mixed forest fruits, added a couple of tbs lemon juice (just because It had come to use it or coup it time - coup, with the ou pronounced as in ouch, is a Scots word meaning dispose of). I pressure cooked 4 minutes, from 3/4 frozen, reduced the pressure naturally, then proceeded per the instructions. The resulting jam may not last long. The sneaky taste was yum in the extreme, and I don’t have strong will power where guid jam is concerned. Thank you for posting the recipe.

Omg great recipe and turned out great eventually. But the timings way out. Took my jam at least an hour to thicken. I used a bag of frozen berries from Aldi.
CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, did you use Chelsea Jam Setting Sugar? This helps the jam set more quickly.

I have made this wonderful jam from home grown produce. It is quick to make and easy to understand. Thanks.

I made jam for the first time today and used this simple recipe.
