Plum and Apple Chutney

2kg Green Apples, peeled, cored and chopped
250g Sultanas
125g Currants
1 Brown Onion, chopped
1 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
1 Teaspoon Allspice
1 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
500g Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar
2 Teaspoons Salt
2 1/2 Cups Malt Vinegar
1 : Place all ingredients in a large stainless steel or enamel saucepan. Mix well. Bring slowly to the boil, stirring until Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar dissolves.
2 : Reduce heat and simmer, stirring from time to time, until mixture is thick - 1 1/2 hours.
3 : Pour into warm sterilised jars and seal.
Very good sweet chutney. Thickened in the time specified in the recipe. I used Granny Smiths and another great green cooking apple that mushes up well.
