Invitations
Here are two great ways to summon the princesses:
- Make an old fashioned scroll to announce the party. Paint the paper with a cup of cold coffee to give it an aged look, and carefully burn around the edges using a candle. Start your invitation with 'Hear ye, hear ye. There is a party to be held at the royal castle...'
- Make a miniature story book, and on the cover have the title as 'Emma's Fairy Tale Party'. On the inside you can write a little story which includes all the party details.
Decorations
- Make the inside of your home look like a castle by hanging shields, swords and helmets all around the walls. Make sure you have a big magic mirror at centre stage.
- Little Princesses deserve the royal treatment - make the prettiest party in all shades of pink, blue and purple. Decorate the room with blue, pink and purple balloons and streamers.
- Give a tiara or a crown to each guest (to those who don't have their own).
- Make glittery star chains to hang over the entrance.
- Hang sparkly Christmas decorations around the room or on a tree branch spray painted silver.
- Decorate the table with fans, tiaras and feathers.
- Glue feathers to pens and pencils for fancy writing tools.
- Fill a 'dress-up' box with bangles, necklaces, tiaras, feather boas, shoes and encourage dress ups.
Games
- Have a table set out with coloured card, scissors, tape, glue and glitter and get the kids to make hand mirrors, small picture frames, a tiara or a wand to take home.
- Fill a large tub or baby bath with water and toss in a pile of red apples and one green one. (You should have enough apples for every child). Blindfold each guest and have them bob for the poison apples. The child who pulls out the green apple wins.
- Buy little bubble containers for each guest.
- Musical princesses - play like musical chairs, instead use pretty coloured cushions for them to sit on.
- Pass Snow Whites' Apples - play like Pass the Parcel and use costume jewellery as the prize.
- Princess freeze - play like Musical Statues with the 'wicked stepmother' or dragon turning her back to catch them out.
- Pin the crown on the princess - played the same as from 'Pin the tail on the Donkey'.
