I've been making tomato relish for 40 years
This is the Easiest recipe I've made
I double the garlic and add kaffir lime leaves.
Sets like a gem.
TASTES DELICIOUS

I added a few chillies for a bit of extra spice.
A truly delicious and easy to make relish. Will definitely make it again. Thanks for posting this yummy recipe!

Love this recipe, I added capsicum aswell. Could I use green tomatoes aswell.

Really yum just made same my daughter say it smells good like butter chicken I reckon just add coconut milk and chicken and good to go

I have never made this relish before but as I had a good crop of little tomatoes this year I wanted to do something with them. I tried this recipe and it was so easy with few ingredients. The result was really tasty and I can't wait to make it again. I am giving this recipe to my 102 year old neighbor.

I made this Tomato Relish recipe tonight with tomatoes I have grown myself. It is absolutely delicious and was so easy. Will make another batch tomorrow. Thank you.

Cooking now tastes good and easy to follow

Very easy, very yummy - great for a beginner like me!

Very sweet a little runnie but that could of been me will be lovely on pizza bases too.

I haven't made it yet, but will do once my fresh tomatoes are ready. Really looking forward to trying it.

Love this recipe. I use half the vinegar and I buy tinned tomatoes with added flavouring. Very easy and economical to make. I put the spices in at the beginning not the end.

A stunning recipe. Very easy, not expensive had all ingredients in my pantry. Didn’t have any mustard powder so used teaspoon of Dijon Mustard. Perfect balance of sweet and sour. It will be my go to recipe in future. In0lan t9 gift it a5 Christmas

Hi this is a lovely recipe, I cut the amount of sugar by half and added a little more curry powder, just our own taste, thanks for putting it up

My son in law made this for us, now I make it

So easy to make and absolutely delicious

Very simple to make, never fails, have this all the year round, thanks for this.

Found it to be too sweet for our liking so halved the sugar quantity and we’re happy with the result

Such a easy delicious chutney!

Yummy and very easy to make. I added chili flakes for that extra little kick.

This relish is incredibly sweet.

Delicious and very easy to make!

Great recipe, ive made it a few times. Love thd taste.

I have lots of small yellow cherry tomatoes. Can i make it using these without taking the skins off, maybe blend tomatoes first?

A great recipe, used mustard seeds and ground them instead of mustard powder.

This is an awesome recipe.i use budget tomatoes as their salt content is so much lower than more expensive brands. Quick and easy to make.

I made this for the first time with home grown roma and yellow grosse lisse tomatoes. It is the best chutney/relish I think I've ever tasted!!!

I love this recipe - I have made this several times when tomatoes are cheap, but this is my second year using my own tomato harvest (from frozen). However, I have one question. I have noticed the curry, mustard and cornflour smooth paste congeals in lumps. I have to do a lot of stirring to remove these. Should it be more liquid? I usually use just one TB vinegar with the other ingredients and whip it with a fork. Am I adding it too quickly? I thought I had got it right this time but then saw the lumps forming again. Still tastes great, but wish I could avoid that. Thanks.

Ain't tried yet... but will ..
Looks yummi

Awesome relish. I throw it all in pressure cooker 10 minutes and it's very tasty

The easiest recipe I have found thank you

Perfect. made it several times. And very easy. I do it in my multi cooker for 10 minutes.

So quick and easy. Everyone loves this so tasty

So easy to make and was just the right consistency.

I have made this recipe before, and am about to do so again no that my tomatoes are in full flight! I also have a glut of cucumbers, so can i add these to the recipe?

Love it, mine more like thick sauce but the flavour is superb. Made with fresh tomatoes from my garden so tastes extra special. Good to know can use tinned as well no more bought product for me. Yielded 3 x 450g jars.

Awesome and super easy recipe. Made this with fresh tomatoes from my garden. A jar of this delicious relish lasted two weeks in my house. Absolutely delicious on meal mates and a slice of Edam cheese.

I am going to make this recipe soon however I would like to know if you can freeze it instead of bottling it. Reason, I am on my own and of the senior variety and I hate waste so I was thinking of freezing in small lots and wondered if this would be okay.

thanks

Look forward to making

Made this for the first time and it’s absolutely delicious,

This is very easy to make and tastes great.

First time I've ever made tomato relish and hubby loves it ....❤

Have been making this recipe, for bout 3 years, and like it very much. Easy to make.

This is so sweet! Anyway I can make it less sweet? Add more tomatoes?!

This is so easy to make especially with tinned tomatoes. Tastes great.

Just made another batch. Its my favourite chutney/ relish that goes with anything. Made it at least 6 times since I found it. I wanted an Easy tomato chutney using canned tomatoes and this does the job perfectly. I am sure it would be even better with fresh toms but I have only used canned. I do buy good quality brands though. This time I added some chilli flakes for extra kick.

Great recipe and sensational relish ! Many thanks.
One comment I have. I’d suggest to slightly reduce the amount of Apple Coder Vinegar in the main pot as it was too liquid. I had to add a lot more cornflour to get the right thickness.
Still turned out well and I had friends calling up to score a jar.

The most amazing tomato relish, I have EVER consumed, had the perfect ratios of sweetness and tangy-ness, which all melded into one delicious party in the mouth.
I paired with a rich and crumbly vintage aged cheddar and mwah was the bestest.

Thanks so so much CHELSEA SUGAR for the stunning recipe,

Hi Keen to try this recipe, just wanted to confirm that if I used canned tomatoes, that I just use an 800gm tin of tomato’s Drained ? or is the 800 gm the drained weight of the Tomato’s ? Thanks PS does this apply for you other recipe for Spicy tomato relish you have on your website

CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, we'd recommend using the weight of the tinned tomatoes after draining (so it is closer to the fresh tomato weight).

Hi, where it says extra vinegar, is that extra cider vinegar or normal vinegar. Looking forward to making this!!!

CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, it's extra cider vinegar. We've updated the recipe now. Enjoy!

I LOVE this recipe it is so easy - it is by far the easiest relish to make. I am living on a yacht in Turkey and there is a constant demand to make this for my fellow international yachties - they love it too.

I also add a number of other ingredients such as roasted red peppers, chillis, lots of garlic and sometimes cumin to the final mix - delicious.

Very nice

So tasty, so easy.
Highly recommend this recipe. Thanks Chelsea NZ

I have made it several times. With canned tomatoes cherry tomatoes and green tomatoes all mixed together and it tastes great either way. I have used white sugar and brown sugar. Half and half. It always tastes so good.

Used cherry tomatoes from the garden and “Cornwells organic apple cider vinegar and chilli” which gave it an awesome zing.
How long can I expect it to last in the pantry?

CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, if properly packaged in sealed sterilised jars, this relish will keep for up to 12 months in the pantry. Refrigerate after opening and use within 6 months.

Quick and easy to make. Too much curry for my liking and overall a sweet relish.
I liked that you didn't have to have too many tomatoes and therefore make a smallish batch.

Hi awesome recipe can I use American mustard as I don't have English or powder mustard

CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, yes you can :)

I haven’t tasted it yet but it smelt heavenly cooking! Your portion size is wrong though it makes 2 500ml jars not one :)

Simply the best!!! This is the best tomato relish I have ever tasted. I have given it to friends who all agree it's the best!!

That is great

Yummy easy recipe made with fresh tomatoes.

I wanted to try this but couldn't get to the shops so I substituted a few things white sugar for raw sugar and 1/2 tsp dijon mustard instead of 1 tsp mustard powder. The result to me was excellent but I do not know how the proper recipe tastes yet (even better?) it maybe on the sweet side but that could be because I used white sugar. Even so, I may halve the sugar next time, but that's just a personal taste and it really is an excellent relish. I had it with home made corn fritters, a match made in heaven.

Looks very easy this recipe just asking can I use brown vinegar instead of cider please.
Will post when completed.

CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, yes you can :)

A very great recipe. Amazing taste. My son in law said it's the best he has ever tasted.

A very good recipe which I have been using for years. A recipient of a jar this year said it's the best he has ever tasted.

Looking forward to making this. Need it for homemade big mac. I can't find mustard powder. Can I use normal English mustard?
Chelsea Sugar:
Yes, you can use English mustard as an alternative.

THE BEST

Love the recipe. I haven't tried it yet, Can you use Italian tomatoes?
Chelsea Sugar:
Yes, you can.

First relish I've made- it was really tasty and easy

Loved the recipe, make it all the time and give to family and friends,
Can we use flour for thickening if no cornflour available?
Chelsea Sugar:
Yes, you can use flour instead of cornflour, however, the texture may be different to what the recipe intended.

We love this chutney. I only used 1/2 cup of sugar and that was plenty. I also added 1/2 a chopped red capsicum. So quick and easy. We have it on everything. Delicious.

Awesome Chutney - 100% Gold

My very first time ever making a relish of any sort & it turned out better than expected, everyone loves it so much I've had requests for more. Very easy instructions to follow definitely helps as well

Soooo....good! Made using Roma tomatoes straight from garden and loved by whole family :-)

Definitely a family favourite. I half the sugar quantity because hubby is diabetic but still tastes delicious.

Hi this is my second batch of relish my husband prefers it to the supermarket and so do my family and friends. I put a teaspoon of chilli powder in as hubby wanted a bit more heat and it is very nice. Thank you.

I ran out of relish for hubby while out vege shopping got a big box of tomatoes for 1dollar so looked up this recipe. Hubby loves it so no more supermarket relish.Thank you Chelsea.

Hi, i love the sound of this chutney, can you tell me how long can i keep this for. Thanks
Chelsea Sugar:
If refrigerated once opened it could last up to 6 months.

I love this recipe and so do my friends enjoy eating it. It is easy to make and when tomatoes are expensive and tinned tomatoes on special I can still have some thing to make.

I have used this recipe many times...I have given jars away to friends and family who just love it and ask for more. The flavour goes with everything I have put it with. Our "go to" favourite!

What a great wee recipe if you need to whip up some relish in a hurry. I used tinned tomatoes and they worked just as well as fresh ones.

I bought 4 tins of chopped tomatoes from the Supermarket @.80cents each. It made 6 jars of relish. I think it is a awesome recipe for winter relish when tomatoes are so expensive. My husband almost had a jar to himself .

Absolutely delicious. Was beautiful with my chicken, bacon & spinach quiche. Very sweet but perfect with savoury. I used chopped tinned tomatoes and it worked perfectly. If you want to feel like you're eating at a posh cafe then this is the relish for you!

me and my grandkids make this relish on the daily, the kids just love it, great recipe. :)

Me and my grandkids make this relish on the daily, the kids just love it, great recipe. :)

Delicious! Have made it for the family for Christmas, I did however use less sugar but it’s still sweet.

Excellent!!!! Quick and easy to make and very nice! And I've never thought about using tinned tomatoes! Have printed and shared around the office.

Does it thicken more, when cooled, tastes very sweet at the moment, and strong curry flavour! Perhaps I'm being impatient.
CHELSEA: Hi there, it only thickens a little on cooling and the flavours should settle down after cooling too.

Just made a batch of the tomato relish. Was delicious.

Delicious easy to make

A great recipe! I use wholegrain mustard and only half the amount of curry powder. Add some capsicum and a chilli. Mmm delish

This relish is delish! Dead easy to make, i do leave mine to cook a bit longer though.

With more added spices best chutney ever!

Im forever non stopping making these. My husband loves them... always asking for more.
