Dose of Dissociating – Chewy Choc Chip Method

Written by Chelsea | 16.11.2025

There’s nothing quite like a parent on the loose. When @CharlieOnline wrote in with this deliciously awkward family dilemma, Suzanne Paul knew exactly what to say. Because sometimes, you just have to let Dad be Dad, especially when “Dad” thinks he’s the star of the comedy circuit at Cobb & Co.

Here's What I Would Do!

  1. March over and stop him mid-punchline? You’ll only become part of the act.
  2. Pretend you don’t know him? Harder to pull off when you share a last name.
  3. Hide the car keys? Cruel… but effective.
  4. Or… take a deep breath, disassociate like a pro, and let the train smash unfold. Unless he starts getting a bit racy, then it’s time to intervene. Otherwise, let the man sprinkle joy (and confusion) across the dining public. And if it truly gets unbearable, there’s always therapy by way of butter, Chelsea sugar, and a pile of chocolate chips. Bake it all away with some gloriously chewy choc chip cookies.

Biscuits Over Blunders

Chewy, melty, and perfectly golden, choc chip cookies are the ultimate balm for second-hand embarrassment. Whip up a batch, eat one warm, and remind yourself: you can’t control your parents, but you can control the number of chocolate chips per bite. Try these:

Helpful Hints

If life’s feeling chaotic, start with small wins - like perfectly chewy cookies! Chill your dough for at least 30 minutes before baking to stop them spreading too much. Bake on baking paper and take them out just as the edges turn golden; they’ll keep cooking on the tray.

Slightly underdone is your friend. That soft centre? It’s the edible equivalent of emotional regulation.

All the Gooey Goodness, None of the Allergens

Everyone deserves a chewy choc chip cookie moment—no matter what’s on their “can’t eat” list. Luckily, Chelsea’s got options for every kind of cookie lover (and every kind of dinner-table embarrassment).

However you mix it, the result’s the same: warm, golden perfection that makes awkward family dinners (and rogue Dad jokes) infinitely easier to swallow.

Let Dad have the spotlight; you’ve got the cookies. Stay tuned—more life mishaps (and sweet fixes) coming soon.
