1 cup flour
2 heaped teaspoons Chelsea White Sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 Tablespoon butter
Milk to mix
SYRUP:
2 Tablespoons Chelsea White Sugar
1 Tablespoon Chelsea Golden Syrup
1 breakfast cup boiling water
Sift flour, salt and baking powder together,then add sugar.
Rub in butter and mix to a soft dough with milk.
Place in a greased basin.
SYRUP:
Dissolve sugar and syrup in water. Pour over dough.
Do not cover basin.
Steam for 45 minutes.
Place basin in a pot of water and simmer with the pot lid half over the basin.
One of my favourites!! We do add little more golden syrup just to add alittle more sweetness but it’s so damn good
Love this pudding. My mother used to make it regularly way back in the 1950s when I was growing up. Every now and again I indulge. Happy memories, pure comfort food.
