- 1/4 cup self raising flour (35g)
- 1 Tbsp cocoa powder + extra to serve
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp butter (15g)
- 2 Tbsp milk (30ml)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

I just made it it’s not very nice all stuck together like a spounge and just has a werid taste. CHELSEA: Ah, mug cakes can be a bit hit or miss- sorry this one didn’t hit the sweet spot! If it turned out spongy or a bit odd in taste, it might’ve been slightly overcooked (microwaves love to go rogue!). Try cooking it for a few seconds less next time, and make sure you’re using fresh ingredients (cocoa and baking powder especially). It’s all part of the mug cake magic… sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it just right!

Method
Sift flour, cocoa powder and salt into a small bowl. Stir in sugar.
Place butter in a small heatproof jug and microwave until just melted. Add milk, egg and vanilla and whisk with a fork until combined.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Spoon into a mug (at least 300ml capacity). Sprinkle with chocolate chips, if using.
Microwave on high for 70-90 seconds, or until cake has risen and the top is just set. Do no overcook.
Dust with extra cocoa powder and serve immediately.

- 2 tablespoons Chelsea Maple Flavoured Syrup
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch of salt
