Your flour amount is way out.. I hadn't read the reviews and had to do a rescue mission by making up another batch of wet to add in (it came out perfect) so needs to be corrected as others have said.. also easier to go by 225g of butter Instead of measuring a cup.

Completely agree with other comments - only need about 2.5 cups of flour - way too crumbly/floury with 4 cups of flour

Made the sultana biscuits today with the grandkids. I mean what else is there to do on a rainy school holiday day?The ratio of flour to the other ingredients is well out. I added more warm milk, golden syrup, and baking soda. We ended up with Sultana buns. Edible.

I think this recipe is great but I do add an extra 50-100g of butter to the mix to get the right consistency

As previously said this mix is not quite right very dry and crumbly would not recommend to a beginner baker.

Should have read reviews first, totally agree on flour quantity, I ended up with practice golf balls after correct cooking time.
Dissolve the baking soda in the milk. Place sugar, butter, golden syrup, baking soda (dissolved in milk) on the stove in a medium saucepan. Heat slowly to melt butter, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat. Add flour and sultanas.
Roll into small balls and press with a fork, dipped in flour to help stop mixture sticking.
