What did you think of this recipe?

The batter was thick and didnt make enough for 12 muffins. They came out like thick and dense and not fluffy. Looking at the other reviews it seemed like these are nice, but they are yuck. I double checked the recipe and followed it exactly. Did anyone else find these yuck?

Method
Preheat 175°C, Grease a muffin tray.
Combine the dry ingredients. : Mix the liquids in a separate bowl.
Add the liquids to the dry ingredients and combine together well, without over beating.
Spoon mixture into prepared muffin tins.
Bake at 175°C for 20-25 minutes.
While muffins are baking, prepare the sugar and cinnamon topping. Melt the butter. Mix together the cinnamon & sugar.
While muffins are hot, dip into melted butter and roll into sugar & cinnamon mixture.
