Horrible it taste like burnt candy I followed the recipe to the t but it still taste burnt and even when was set it was hard as a rockt

It’s a bit too hard/crunchy for my toddler. What would soften it a bit? CHELSEA: If the Rice Bubble Cake is too hard or crunchy, try reducing the amount of golden syrup or using a little more butter to keep it softer. Pressing it lightly into the tin rather than packing it too firmly can also help keep it from becoming too hard. Hope that helps!

Method
Grease a 20cm square baking tin or dish and line with baking paper.
Place butter, Chelsea Caster Sugar and honey in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until butter has melted. Increase heat a little and bring to the boil; boil for 3 minutes.
Remove from heat, add rice bubbles and stir well. Transfer to prepared dish and use a spatula to flatten out. Top with sprinkles, if desired. Slice while still slightly warm.
