Great recipe, with nice chocolatey flavour. I generously iced 24 Afghans with it.

So quick and easy, just what I needed for my cake, thank you.

This Recipe worked so well!

The proportion of butter to icing sugar is 'out' and the butter taste gets overtaken by the icing sugar. Looks like buttercream and your kids will still like it but I won't be using this recipe again unfortunately.

This is absolutely yummy..thanks for the recipe

This is absolutely yummy..thanks for the recipe

Love this recipe so much. I usually only add in just over 1 cup of icing sugar, as the full amount is a little too sweet for my liking. Very easy to make and so delicious

Smooth,creamy,and SO YUM!

Perfect for my banana cake!

Delicious! My go to recipe for chocolate cakes!

My go to every time!

Absolute brilliant recipe, highly recommend to everyone! 10/10!

Delicious, but I recommend adding 1/2 teaspoon of salt to counteract the sweetness of the icing

Looks nice but there is a lot of sugar! I’m not very big on sugar and I’m sure most people aren’t so please turn this down a notch.

Best buttercrean recipe ever! This is my go-to every time!! And the best thing is, if you remove the cocoa, add more icing sugar and a bit of vanilla extract you get amazing vanilla buttercream! 10/10!!!

I'm 11 and always use this when I make chocolate cake. So smooth and creamy and sweet.

really delicious and amazing to put on cake for christmas desert
10/10

yummy

Delicious. 10/10

Good, but icing sugar and cocoa powder needs to be in grams. Converting it is too much hassle.

This recipe worked out very nicely ( everyone loved it!! )

Easy and very yummy. Tastes great with chocolate cake.

Best buttercream I’ve tasted! Thanks so much Yvette!

My first time making this icing and it is soooooooo freakin yum. I had wondered how this icing was made and now I know. I am gonna make a lot of cakes haha and learn to make cupcakes which is my excuse to use this buttercream icing.

Best icing ever

Really light and fluffy

Best chocolate buttercream icing! My go-to recipe and works perfectly every time! Usually have lots left over.

Delicious. Most of it almost didn't make it to the cupcakes!

This is the best buttercream I have ever made!

Delicious. Yummy in my tummy.
So good so good.

YUM!

Would I just omit the cocoa powder if I wanted a vanilla buttercream? Or should 1/4 cup icing sugar be added in place of the cocoa?
Have tried this choc buttercream recipe on a cake I baked and it is really delicious! Wasn’t grainy or overly sweet like some buttercream frostings I have tasted.

Best recipe I’ve found for buttercream!!

Great but made heaps! I would halve it next time for 1 cake

This is the perfect chocolate butter cream recipe! I used less sugar but it was still perfect! Thanks so much Yvette! Even without the milk it was so creamy and amazing! I would highly recommend this buttercream recipe to anyone! I am going to pair this with the Chelsea sugar chocolate mud cake with ganache recipe! Thanks

This came out beautifully, first time I piped the icing and it is not as easy as it looks on cooking shows but the taste was worth it... it really was the icing on the cake. Thank you

Recipe is nice and simple.

It’s not yummy

Thank you this worked really well. I ended up doubling the cocoa and adding more milk to make up for this and it worked really well too. Just a bit darker for it. Yum!

I tried making it and I love it.

Been trying so many recipes lately and have figured I'm a sh!t baker, but this cake turned out LOVELY and has renewed my baking confidence! Thanks a heap :)

This is perfect. It's light and fluffy, definitely using this again!!

Its amazing came out perfect and tasted great... take my advice!!!

Great recipe! Easy to follow, and *just* more than enough buttercream to ice a banana cake (I.e the perfect amount - no-one wants a patchy cake!). Thanks for sharing.

This recipe is all wrong. There is way too much icing sugar to butter, and it comes out grainy and floury. I had to add another 200g butter to save it. After this I saw the note that this recipe has not been tested by Chelsea. Shame on you for putting your name to it; people trust the name of your brand, you have lost a customer.
CHELSEA: Hi there, this chocolate buttercream icing has a very similar ratio of ingredients to other chocolate buttercream recipes found online. It is important to beat the butter until pale and fluffy before adding the rest of the ingredients, and adding as much milk as required at the end to give a nice creamy consistency.
